Tulane University has jumped the start on National Signing Day by announcing that Nick Montana will be playing for the Green Wave starting in the 2013 season.
Montana, a rising junior, comes to Tulane via Washington and San
Antonio. He played six games as a redshirt-freshman at the University of
Washington, then transferred to Mount San Antonio Community College for
2012. At Mount SAC, he racked up plenty of junior college awards as he
led the team to a division title. He's also the son of Hall of Fame
quarterback Joe Montana, a fact of which he's likely reminded daily.

Montana was highly heralded coming out of high school in Los Angeles;
he went 27-1 as a starter for Oaks Christian. But he could never get
too far off the bench in Washington, redshirting one year and scrambling
for playing time the second. The move to Mount San Antonio paid off for
both player and team, as he led the team to an 11-1 record.
At Tulane, Montana will compete for the starting job. He has two
years of eligibility remaining. Question is, will both those years come
at Tulane? Montana's brother Nate has an even more scattered playing
history, as he played everywhere from California junior college to
Division II West Virginia Wesleyan to Notre Dame. Nate Montana will be
eligible for the 2013 NFL Draft.
Tulane is in its final year as a member of Conference USA before a projected move to the Big East starting in the 2014 season.
